WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
(The Indian Scenario)
-By Mrs. Prafullata Rode.
Women form an important section of our society. Empowering a woman is to give her the ability to do something about her needs, wants opinions, beliefs & feelings. Empowering women means taking care of their human rights, ensure the health, safety & well being of all women. Giving women rights in all walks of life like education, politics & socio-economic issues leads to her empowerment. Treating a woman at par with men everywhere, at home, at the workplace by giving them due respect & support results in their empowerment. An empowered woman is a confident woman with high self-esteem. Women’s empowerment is crucial for the socio-economic & political progress of a country.
“YOU CAN TELL THE CONDITION OF A NATION BY LOOKING AT THE STATUS OF ITS WOMEN“..said Jawaharlal Nehru.
If we go back to the pre-independence era of our country, the condition of the women was very disheartening. During that time the life of most of the women was based on a principle of Manusmriti न स्त्री स्वातंत्र्यमर्हती!! meaning a woman can never have freedom. Post-independence because of the efforts of many social reformers..both men & women.. the condition of women started improving. Many laws came into force to protect the interests of women ensuring their well-being. The object was women empowerment.
In today’s scenario, we can see the progress of Indian women because of their education & exposure. We can find their presence in all walks of life including some male-dominated spheres like space, aviation, army, etc. It’s a matter of pride for all Indian women.
This is definitely a sign of women empowerment. Many women have successfully chosen the path of entrepreneurship & added to the economy of our country. But the million-dollar question is ” what is the percentage of such women?? On one hand, we see the rising career graph of a few women while on the other hand is it not painful to see horrible news of atrocities on women in India on a daily basis??
Indian society needs a shift from the present attitude for total women empowerment. Till then the struggle for empowerment is & will be a continuous process. Indian women have fought, are fighting & will be fighting for the rights of all Indian women
God has gifted a woman with many unique qualities like patience, tolerance, love & affection for others & the most important is tenacity. With all these qualities the struggle for women empowerment continues. Let us hope for a day when every single woman of India will be empowered in its true sense.
Mahatma Gandhi once said THE LIFE OF A WOMAN IS LIKE A RIVER WHILE FLOWING IT OVERCOMES MANY OBSTACLES BUT BRINGS PROSPERITY ON ITS BOTH SIDE
Just beneath, are quite a few entirely not associated internet sites to ours, nonetheless, they may be certainly worth going over. Margaux Vergil Peatroy
